Senator David Perdue On Historic UAE-Israel-Bahrain Agreement

U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today applauded the signing of the Abraham Accords, an agreement to normalize diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Bahrain.

"When I was first elected to the Senate, I made it a priority to take my first international trip to Israel and reaffirm U.S. support for the alliance. Similarly, when President Trump got to the White House, he too prioritized restoring this pivotal relationship by reversing years of mistrust sown by Joe Biden and Barack Obama," said Senator Perdue. "Since day one, President Trump's relentless pursuit of peace in the Middle East has centered around our Arab partners normalizing relations with Israel. Today's agreement between the UAE, Israel, and Bahrain will not only increase Israel's standing in the world, but also tectonically change the Middle East for the better. Ultimately, the long-term stability of the region rests, in part, on stronger Israeli-Gulf cooperation, particularly in the face of Iran's destabilizing aggression. As such, I am optimistic that the UAE and Bahrain's bold leadership will encourage other Arab and Muslim countries to follow suit."
